MOUNT MORRIS – Every year, the Ramp Festival takes place at Mason-Dixon Historical Park in Mount Morris, PA – April 28-29 from 10 AM to 2 PM.
In spring, every year, the North American wild leek is harvested to eat by hundreds and Mason-Dixon Historical Park invites dozens of vendors to sell at the festival.
Make a day of it, starting with breakfast with Diane! Enjoy various foods, including Pat’s ramp butter, Dash o’ Ramps, ramp burgers, Statler’s baked goods, Uncle Jim’s Donuts, Margaret’s jams and jellies, sweet sausage sandwiches, fries, onion rings, Sammy’s and Roz’s peppers, funnel cakes, salt rising bread, cookies and pies.
In the pavilion, you can get fried potatoes and ramps, macaroni salad, ramp potato soup, soup beans and cornbread with homemade butter, sassafras tea, and beer battered deep fried ramps – personal favorite among many. They also offer the famous Mason-Dixon Dog, whose bun is topped with chili, coleslaw, onions, kraut, and ramps, all for just a buck. Also, military veterans and active service members and their spouses get FREE Mason-Dixon Dogs and drinks!
You can take home some fresh ramps and try out your own recipes!
In addition to live musical performances throughout the weekend, and a plethora of local crafters, they’ll have numerous exhibitors including a blacksmith, Tom Hritz chain saw carver, ABC Humane Animal Trapping, North Central WV Animal Trapper’s Association, Angels R Designs, LulaRoe clothing, Ramp tees and caps, and much more!
The Ramp Festival is so big that there’s even a song about it!
