GREENSBORO – Mapletown’s color guard has begun their spring concert practices. They are practicing routines to music to get ready for the upcoming season.
They have been using new moves and twirls and they’re gonna knock your socks off at the spring concert!
Members have been working very hard and long on their new routines, all from scratch. They got to pick the music they will be performing and it is a pretty diverse mix of songs.
As a group, color guard has elected to not tell anyone the music they will use, so the show will be a surprise. Spring concert will be the last performance for color guard this season.
They will be saying goodbye to two seniors: Lynsie Galloway and Kylei Grim. The night will be an emotional night for the color guard team, considering how close they have gotten to their seniors over the season.
Mapletown’s color guard has come a long way since the beginning of season; it looks like a whole new team. The color guard has 8 girls, coached by Heather Dice.
Q: Have you noticed a drastic improvement in your team since the beginning of season?
Heather: Yes, we have learned 7 routines to date and now we have to learn 3 more completely different styles which takes times and dedication along with the knowledge of the flag.
Q: How do you feel about the choice of music the color guard girls have chosen for the spring concert?
Heather: I’m excited. It’s something different which allows them to show their personalities.
Q: Anything else you want to say about your team? As individuals or a whole?
Heather: We have come a long way and wouldn’t trade any of them. Shout out to Kylei and Lynsie – I’m gonna miss you girls.
